[英文] 筆記方法分享與示範:將拼音類似的字彙整理

喬今天要分享的筆記整理概念為:「將spelling(拼字)相當類似以至於時常搞混的單字做整理,將有助於字彙背誦。」許多同學大量靠著發音背誦單字,這是較佳的方式。但是有些單字的發音其實時常令人搞混,僅靠發音記誦容易搞混。所以喬認為將這些單字整理出來並且搭配練習手寫拼音可記誦較久,以下為喬靠此方法做的筆記:



√ congenial & congenital
congenial (adj.) 友善的; 令人愉快的; 怡人的
[friendly and pleasant]
e.g. congenial company/surroundings
友善的夥伴/ 令人愉快的環境

congenital (adj.) (疾病等) 天生的; 先天的
[describes a disease or condition that exists at or from birth]
e.g. a congenital abnormality/disease
先天性畸形/疾病

√ ethic & ethnic
ethic (n.) 行為準則; 倫理; 道德體系; 道德規範
[a system of accepted beliefs which control behavior, especially such a system based on morals]
e.g. the (Protestant) work ethic
(新教徒的)職業道德

e.g. The ethics of journalism are much debated.
新聞業的職業道德是個廣受討論的問題

e.g. He said he was bound by a scientist’s code of ethnics.
他說他受到科學家的道德準則的約束

ethnic (adj.) 民族的; 種族的
[of a national or racial group of people]
e.g. A question on ethnic origin was included in the census.
人口普查包含一個有關種族來源的問題

e.g. The factory’s workforce reflects the ethnic mix from which it draws its labor.
這個工廠的員工組成反映了勞動力來源的種族複雜狀況

√ imaginary & imaginative
imaginary (adj.) 想像中的; 虛構的
[describes something that is created by and exists only in the mind; that is not real]
e.g. As a child I had an imaginary friend called Polly.
小時候我有個想像中的朋友叫做波力

imaginative (adj.) 新穎的; 獨創的
[new, original and clever]
e.g. an imaginative new approach/policy
有創意的新方法/政策

e.g. The architects have made imaginative used of glass and transparent plastic.
建築師別出心裁地使用了玻璃和透明塑膠


√ respectable & respectful & respective
respectable (adj.) 體面的; 得體的; 值得尊敬的
[considered to be socially acceptable because of your good character, appearance or  behavior]
e.g. a respectable young woman from a good family
出身良好、端莊賢淑的年輕女子

respectful (adj.) 畢恭畢敬的; 表示尊敬的; 尊重的
[showing admiration for someone or something]
e.g. “We’re so pleases to meet you at last,” he said in a respectful tone of voice.
「我們終於和您見面了,真是萬分高興,」他畢恭畢敬地說道

respective (adj.) 各自的; 個別的; 各個的
[relating or belonging to each of the separate people or things you have just mentioned]
e.g. Everyone would go into the hall for assembly and then afterwards we’d go to our respective classes.
所有人都去禮堂參加集會,會後各自回各自的班級

√ sensible & sensitive
sensible (adj.) 理智的; 明智的
[based on or acting on good judgment and practical ideas or understanding]
e.g. a sensible answer/approach/compromise/option
明智的回答/方法/妥協/選擇

sensitive (adj.) 神經過敏的; 易被冒犯的; 敏感的
[easily upset by the things people say or do, or causing people to be upset, embarrassed or angry]
e.g. Her reply showed that she was very sensitive to criticism.
她的回答顯示她對批評很敏感

√ intense & intensive
intense (adj.) 強烈的; 極度的
[extreme and forceful or (of a feeling) very strong]
e.g. insense cold/heat/hatred
嚴寒/酷熱/痛恨

intensive (adj.) 密集的; 集中的; 加強的; 深入的
[involving a lot of effort or activity in a short period of time]
e.g. two weeks of intensive training
兩週的密集訓練

e.g. an intensive course in English
英語密集課程
