【居住(動詞)
dwell (V.) 居住
[to live in a specified place]
: She dwelt in remote parts of Asia for many years.
她已經住在亞洲的偏遠地區多年

reside (V.) 居住;定居
[to live, have your home or stay in a place]
: The family now resides in southern France.
這家人現居住在法國南部

inhabit (V.) 居住於
[to live in a place]
: These remote islands are inhabited only by birds.
這些偏僻的島嶼上只有鳥類棲息

lodge (V.) 借宿;借住
[to pay rent to stay somewhere]
: She lodged with Mrs Higgins when she first came to Cambridge.
她第一次來劍橋時借宿在希金斯太太家裡

abide (V.) 居住
[to have one's abode; dwell; reside]
: She abides in a small Scottish village.

sojourn (V.) 逗留; 停留
[to stay somewhere temporarily]

settle down (V-phr.) 安頓下來;習慣於新環境
[to become familiar with a place and to feel happy and confident in it]
: She quickly settled down in her new house/job/school.

inhabitant (n.) (某地的)居民;棲息動物
[a person or animal that lives in a particular place]
: There is 5 million inhabitants in that city.
那城市有五百萬個居民

resident (n.) 居民; 住戶
[a person who lives in or has their home in a place]
: The local residents were angry at the lack of parking spaces.
當地居民對停車位短缺一事非常惱火

occupant (n.) 居住者[FORMAL]
[a person who lives or works in a room or building]
: The previous occupants were an Italian family.
先前的居住者是一家義大利人

occupier (n.) 居住者; 佔用人
[someone who lives or works in a particular room, building or piece of land or someone who is using it]
: The envelope was simply addressed to 'The Occupier'.

dweller (n) 城市/城鎮/洞穴等居民
[a person who lives in a city, town, caves, etc.]
: There are no Tokyo dwellers lurking ominously in their gang.

settler (n.) (尤指來自別國的)移民者; 定居者; 殖民者

townsfolk = townspeople (複數名詞) 鎮民; 市民
